Know the CHANGES in the Requirements to travel to Chile 2022. With the aim of establishing a new framework of action for chilean borderswhich allows responding to different national and international epidemiological contingencies, as well as detect and contain the entry of a new SARS-CoV-2 variant of concernnew measures are implemented to control national borders.
In this context, three alert levels are established, which govern from the April 14, 2022.
Important: As of June 16, 2022, the obligation to have health insurance, with Covid-19 coverage, to enter Chile was eliminated.

Covid Chile Requirements – LEVEL 1 ALERT
Requirements to travel to Chile – LEVEL 1 ALERT (we are currently at this level in Chile)where there is community transmission of known and controlled variants within the country, there is more information on their characteristics and health impact, and there is no alert for a new variant of concern.
Measures alert level 1 restrictions Chile
- travel restriction: Without restrictions.
- Traveler handling:
- Flight without cases: without restriction.
- Confirmed case: isolation according to general health regulations.
- In-flight contact case: in accordance with general health regulations.
- Travelers declaration (request for C19): always, to all travelers.
- Requirement of homologation upon entry for non-resident foreigners: voluntary vaccine approval to access mobility pass.
- Diagnostic test request before admission: recommended.
- Request for diagnostic test upon admission: It is done randomly.
- Genomic surveillance: all positive PCR of travelers in the last 14 days or close contact of travelers.
Covid Chile Requirements – LEVEL ALERT two
Requirements to travel to Chile – LEVEL 2 ALERTwhere there is a variant of concern without known community circulation, or with an initial community circulation, and where the health authority determines that the country is prepared to respond to its prevention and control.
Measures alert level 2 restrictions Chile
- travel restriction: partial, with a reduced flow of trips coming from and going to destinations where the presence of a new variant of concern is confirmed or suspected. Flows for humanitarian reasons, supply flows and strategic activities for the country will always be allowed.
- Traveler handling:
- Flight without cases: quarantine in a health residence or home for those who do not have vaccine approval or Mobility Pass. The entry of these people is allowed only under the cause of humanitarian reasons and strategic activities.
- Confirmed case: isolation always in a health residence.
- Contact case within the flight: quarantine in a health residence or home.
- Declaration of travelers (C19 request): always, to all travelers.
- Requirement of homologation upon entry for non-resident foreigners: Compulsory homologation of vaccines for entry.
- Diagnostic test request before admission: required of all.
- Request for diagnostic test upon admission: always, to all travelers.
- Genomic surveillance: all positive PCR of travelers in the last 14 days or close contact of travelers.
Covid Chile Requirements – LEVEL 3 ALERT
Requirements to travel to Chile – LEVEL 3 ALERTin the context of the appearance of a variant of concern without known community circulation within the country, where there is no further information or a high potential health impact on the Chilean population is estimated despite the response of the health system.
Measures alert level 3 restrictions Chile
- travel restriction: partial, with a reduced flow of trips coming from and going to destinations where the presence of a new variant of concern is confirmed or suspected. Flows for humanitarian reasons, supply flows and strategic activities for the country will always be allowed.
- Traveler handling:
- Flight without cases: quarantine, always in a health residence, for all travelers coming from places where the presence of a new variant of concern is confirmed or suspected.
- Confirmed case: isolation always in a health residence.
- In-flight contact case: quarantine, always in a health residence.
